On a recent trip to London I was lucky enough to be heading back to Kings Cross via Borough Market. I know from experience that the food on East Coast mainline is not very good, so I was keen to find something good to grab on the way. Borough market is home to some pretty exciting foodie treats, but it always seems mostly closed when I visit.
On this occasion there was a good choice on offer. There’s a very good restaurant in Borough market called Toast (which I’ve reviewed on Globe Troffers some time ago) and they happen to have a rather splendid take away sandwich service which on this day was serving roast pork belly with apple sauce. Mmm. At £6 a pop, it was at the top end of the takeaway sandwich market, but I was feeling both hungry and ostentatious so why not?
I grabbed one and greedily ate it sat in the sun dappled gardens of Southwark Cathedral.
Bliss and worth every single penny.
